Field Day is an emergency preparedness exercise for Amateur Radio Operators.
It is an all-weather Event.
Radio stations are set up in the field and powered by batteries, generators, solar panels, or other sources, then connected to portable antennas.
During the exercise, short messages are exchanged with radio stations in the USA and Canada. Voice, Morse code, email, and messages are transmitted and received by radio, without using the Internet.
The purpose of Field Day is to demonstrate the need for Amateur Radio, as this may be the only type of communications available in a real emergency.
